My First Sleepover book review

Thank goodness for babysitters! Whether it be a grandparent, an aunt/uncle or a friend, we need some adult time! When my daughter had her first sleepover, we got her this book. The story is about Elmo’s first sleepover at his grandparents’ house. The best part is that the book comes with a CD with a read-along narration.

Brainy Baby week!
When I first became a mom, everyone told me about the Baby Einstein videos. My daughter seemed to like them at first but was quickly not interested. Later I discovered the Brainy Baby line of products and my daughter and I love them! One great thing is that they don’t only carry videos. They have a line of books, flash cards, games, and much more. But the best part is that almost all of their products are under $25. weefinds LOVES that!
This week, I will be reviewing Brainy Baby products each day and we’ll end the week with a giveaway. Stay tuned.
You can find their products at Brainy Baby or on Amazon.

Water Wow
Christine, my fellow weefinds Mommy introduced my son to Water Wow over the holidays. I wished she would have introduced it to us sooner! My 2 year old is into drawing lately..and sometimes I just don’t have the time to supervise him with crayons or markers in hand. When Christine gave him the Water Wow book to play with, he absolutely loved it. The Water Wow books consist of a sturdy tablet notebook that contain coloring pages of pictures and activities. Although, he is a bit too young to comprehend the activities..he still enjoys using the water brush that it comes with it to “paint” the pages to reveal the hidden pictures. The water brush is great in that you just fill up the little tube with water, squeeze, and paint. It’s virtually mess free. The best part is that these books are re-useable. The pages eventually dry up, and can be used over and over again. This is a great thing to have for restaurants and travel as well. I plan on getting a few more for my son as they feature a variety of characters such as Dora and Diego, the Backyardigans, Transformers, Care Bears, etc. They can be found at Target and Office Max. However, click HERE to see the assortment also available at Amazon.
DreamStarter Book
I was introduced to this book through one of senior editors of Cold Tree Press. The DreamStarter Book is a book of story starters written by Jennifer Karin Sidford to get kids to exercise their imaginations by becoming storytellers. My daughter is very much into pretend plays recently including pretending to be a teacher. She has been more interactive during bedtime stories by wanting to take her turn telling me the story. She started remembering our bedtime stories and tend to repeat what she remembered. We started using the DreamStarter book a little before the Christmas holiday as part of our bedtime routine and it has been entertaining to hear what she comes up with during storytime. Her favorite one is “The Rose Vine” and has incorporated cookies for Santa as what Noelle found after climbing the ladder. I like the fact that the story starters are fairly short so I don’t fall asleep reading them after a long day at work. The stories incorporate real life events that it makes it easy for kids to relate and add their imagination and creativity to them. This makes a great gift for teachers and parents. It was definitely a great addition to my daughter’s library. Click here to purchase the book directly from Cold Press. It is $12.95 but using coupon code weedream20 you can save 20% off your entire order, not including shipping and handling. Coupon code expires January 19th.

Baby 411
Looking for a great baby shower gift idea, or a Christmas gift for an expecting mom?
When I brought my first child home from the hospital, I was extremely nervous and had questions about EVERYTHING. Yet, I didn’t want to be “that mom” that called the doctor about every single little thing. This book was a great resource during that first year or so of my son’s life. It is organized in an easy to read Q&A format, and is clear and concise with a touch of humor. It helped reassure me when things were “normal” and also alerted me when it was really time to see a doctor. This book also gave some great advice about sleep and nutrition. I would consider Baby 411 a MUST HAVE for all new parents.
“Over 4 million babies will be born this year, many to first-time parents who don’t know colic from cradle cap. This detailed, down-to-earth reference gives new moms and dads all the information they need to make their child’s first year healthy and happy. Written by Ari Brown, a pediatrician and mother, and Denise Fields, a best-selling author and the mother of two boys, Baby 411 covers every aspect of baby’s physical and emotional development, from circumcision and ear infections to thumb sucking and temper tantrums. The book includes advice on selecting a pediatrician, breastfeeding, juggling family and career, and when to call the doctor. Newly updated to reflect the most up-to-date research, this second edition includes new information on vaccines, autism, food allergies, and preventing obesity, as well as an expanded section on television and media use for infants. A comprehensive chapter on sleep management helps everyone sleep through the night”
